Château de Peyrel – Dordogne

Château de Peyrel

A vineyard reborn

After much patient, meticulous and passionate work, Château de Peyrel was restored to its original winemaking vocation in 2013. Our wines are elaborated in keeping with traditional craftsmanship, preserving both the plant and its fruit, in order to produce natural products of the highest gustative and aromatic quality. That’s whi we decide to convert the winyard to organic farming.

Our methods

Traditional craftsmanshift

Produced from vintage plants (over 60 years old) our wines are a blend of traditional grape varieties from the Bergerac region. In order to protect the plant and its fruit, we harvest the grapes by hand in single layer shelves. Optimum maturity is achieved through several successive pickings . Several days of cold skin maceration take place in the winery, before the juice is placed in cold stabilisation for two weeks prior to fermentation. It is stirred to aging over a twelve month period on the lees.

To visit us

The Bergerac vineyard is spread over 93 towns around the city of Bergerac in the Dordogne department (south west of France). 1,200 winegrowers cultivate a total of 12,000 hectares and produce 13 AOC (controlled origin) red, dry and sweet white as well as rosé wines.
Le Rosette AOC is located north of Bergerac. This amphitheatre of gentle hills above the town is the original land of the Bergerac Vinée (1322). now in direct contrast with the city’s growing residential areas, the production of Rosette is a very confidential affair.

You are always welcome to visit Peyrel and buy directly at the Château.
